About every 2-3 years we can offer our cruise to Canada. We can only do this cruise in September and that is also the month we must do Hawaii so this is why you don’t see a Hawaii cruise in 2018. We have to choose one or the other. It is a hard choice because both are very wonderful and of course very different. So for 2018 we wanted to make our Canada trip REALLY special by honoring our friends to the north and feature primarily red and white quilt projects. I know you will really love what we have selected. You will love this cruise. We are hoping for fall foliage (never guaranteed) and we will see plenty of wildlife (especially in the form of lobster rolls) and beautiful scenery. Halifax is so interesting because it was where the Titanic debris was delivered after it sank. There is a great museum. And Boston! Need I say more? This one is different so I look forward to seeing all of you onboard.

That's right! Each quilter will be provided a state-of-the-art 330 Bernina machine equipped with the extended table, a quarter inch foot, and an open toe foot. Sandra Coffey
Sandra's passion is fiber art, especially quilting. She has been sewing since childhood and then made clothing for my entire family after she married. She learned the art of quilting soon after moving to Alaska. Sandra started quilting in 1976 and is always open to new techniques and patterns. She began teaching in 1995 and loves to share the skills needed to pass on this beautiful tradition. She is one of our most beloved local teachers and is Judy Niemeyer Certified!
Sandra joined our Stitchin' Heaven family in 2006 as the Block of the Month manager. She is also a long arm quilter. She does beautiful work quilting many of our shop models, several of which, have been featured in magazines.

Karin Hellaby was born in the north-east of England to Norwegian parents. She now lives in Suffolk, UK and is the owner of one of the UK’s leading quilt shops – Quilters Haven. In 1998 Karin won the Michael Kile Award for International Retailer of the Year, awarded by the Houston Quilt Market/Festival organizers.
Karin loves traveling, and has enjoyed teaching at International Quilt Markets and Festivals in the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates. She has taught many times at the largest outdoor quilt show in the world, an annual event in Sisters, Oregon where one year she had a solo display of her quilts.
Karin’s wonderful resource books bring quilt making into the 21st century offering students multi-techniques within new designs. Karin’s workshops illustrate her philosophy well – several types of patchwork taught and sewn in one class and then stitched into an original pattern design, very achievable and lots of fun!

Sherri loves everything about quilting. The fabrics, the techniques, the patterns, piecing, appliqué - absolutely everything not to mention all the great people that she has met because of it. And to think, she began quilting almost by accident. In 1982, her friend Jackie signed both of them up for a quilting class! Jackie and Sherri took that beginner class three times, yep, that’s right three times! So now you Sherri’s secret, quilting did not come easy.
When Sherri started teaching, she decided that she did not want other quilters to suffer the frustration that she had gone through. Taking the mystery out of quilting became the focus of her classes with emphasis on solid basics so quilters would have confidence to complete the projects they wanted to, while keeping the emphasis on fun. Early on, many of her classes were based on her own quilt designs, some of which have now developed into Border Creek Station quilt patterns.
Sherri lives in Kilworthy, Ontario Canada with her very supportive husband Ron (who helps by binding all of her quilts - he is a keeper!) and since their children have left the nest, they also keep busy with their two Small Munsterlander hunting dogs, Brodie & Lacie, who love the outdoors and of course, cuddling with quilts.

Sandra Coffey Maple Leaf Flurries
Whether you're new to paper-foundation piecing or have paper-pieced before, you'll enjoy creating this stunning quilt using Sandra's paper-piecing techniques. Maple leaf blocks combine contrasting colors to create a beautiful effect. We gave a custom makeover to this wonderful pattern to increase it in size. You will be making a nice throw size quilt rather than the original wallhanging size. Perfect to cover under when you sit by the fire this winter.

Karin Hellaby Alluring Canada
When we started trying to decide which quilt to use as our project with Karin, she suggested that Flying Geese and Delectable Mountains would be the perfect combination. We agreed to do it in red and white fabrics to make it totally Canada. Karin will show you a fun technique for making both blocks in her unique style. You will certainly be able to go home with a quilt that will remind you of your visit to Canada forever!

Sherri Hisey Stars In The Valley
Every quilter should make at least one two-color quilt in their lifetime! Working with only two fabrics for a change is like a quilter’s vacation. The dramatic look of the two fabric choices whether in the traditional red and white, blue and white or even in soft delicate colors make this quilt stunning. Our kit will feature the traditional red and white colors.
NOTE: Our Sail N Sew will be done using option B of the pattern which uses Star Sinlges to make the quilt go together much quicker.

Our incredible Sail 'n Sew fabric pack includes all of the fabrics and patterns for your projects and they are pre-cut so all you need to do is sit down and sew! The price of the Sail ‘n Sew fabric pack is $495.00 and it includes all three of the projects for this cruise. If you would like to buy individual kits, please call for pricing. If you would like a Sail ‘n Sew pack, just let us know when you make your Reservation and we'll have a kit waiting for you on the ship. Order early as supplies are limited.
NOTE: In most cases the fabrics used to make the projects shown are no longer available. For our Sail 'n Sew kits we will match fabrics as closely to the project shown as possible. However, if you are uncomfortable with our judgement we suggest you consider purchasing your own fabric and pre-cutting it prior to class.
If you do not wish to purchase a Sail 'n Sew Fabric Pack, remember to pack your own fabrics. We will not have fabrics available for purchase aboard the ship. You will need to bring your fabric pre-cut and ready for class. You must also bring your pattern or book. Situated on the New York Harbor Cape Liberty is just seven miles from New York City. Visitors have easy access to the Big Apple and everything it has to offer-world-acclaimed restaurants, museums, landmarks, and the best shopping.

Boston, Massachusetts
In the United States’ oldest city, colonial heritage is the backdrop for an inviting mix of culture and lively street life. See where Revolutionary history took place on a walking or trolley tour along Boston's Freedom Trail. Walk the cobblestone and brick of the Freedom Trail and you'll see many monuments to Boston's rich history. Beginning at Boston Common, you'll pass the site of the Boston Massacre and go on to Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere's House and Charlestown, among many other places central to American history. You'll find out why they call Boston "The Walking City."

Portland, Maine
Portland offers a unique combination of Maine's rich history and its own vibrant culture. Local artisans offer their handiwork along the streets of the Arts District and the Old Port Exchange. Colorful boats line the shores of Casco Bay, and wonderful freshly cooked seafood abounds in this charming seaside town. The Old Port Exchange is really the heart of downtown Portland. It's a collection of 19th-century brick buildings originally constructed to support the vast export and fishing industries. Today, this quaint, restored area houses specialty shops, restaurants and pubs.

Bar Harbor, Maine
Nestled on the east side of Mt. Desert Island and surrounded by Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor features some of the most spectacular scenery on the Eastern Seaboard. The rock-bound coast, soaring granite cliffs, majestic mountains and blue waters have attracted the Rockefellers, Astors, and Vanderbilts for over 200 years, and continue to enchant visitors today. Explore beautiful Acadia National Park. See Cadillac Mountain and the natural rock formations of Thunder Hole. Journey over bridges to arrive at Jordan Pond House, where you can take in the beautiful scenery of Penobscot Mountain and the Bubble Mountains while enjoying popovers and tea.

Halifax, Nova Scotia
Halifax was long defined by naval operations. The 18th-century Citadel still stands guard, but today overlooks a thriving city whose restored waterfront features historic architecture, shops, museums, bars, restaurants and more. One of the city's most attractive areas is the Historic Properties Development, located along the waterfront. The charming early 19th-century wood and stone buildings here have all been fully restored. And the cobblestone streets and long boardwalks are now lined with a wonderful array of boutiques, cafés, and pubs.

Saint John, NB (Bay Of Fundy)
Although famous for the Reversing Rapids at the Bay of Fundy, Saint John is also home to splendid Victorian architecture, quaint shops and a vibrant arts scene. It is also a gateway to New Brunswick’s scenic villages and seascapes. Experience the amazing Reversing Falls Rapids, Saint John's best-known attraction. Twice daily the powerful tides of the Bay of Fundy rise faster than the river can empty. When this happens, the tide attempts to push the river back upstream, then the tide ebbs and the river appears to reverse itself and flow over the rocks, creating the appearance of reversing rapids.

This fee includes your cruise fare PLUS all fees to the teachers, a Bernina sewing machine for the entire cruise, all associated class activities, and classroom support. Fabric kits are not included. You may purchase our precut Sail n Sew kit (supplies are limited) or you are welcome to bring your own precut fabric.
Group travel allows us to provide special touches that are not available on an individual reservation. And unfortunately, discounts from Royal Caribbean are not allowed through our group program. In order to take full benefit from everything Stitchin Heaven offers on our cruises, you must register through Stitchin Heaven Travel. If you have questions or need assistance in changing your individual reservation to a group reservation through Stitchin' Heaven Travel, please let us know.

Cabins
With so much to do onboard, chances are really good that you will just use your cabin for changing and sleeping, but it's nice to know that if you want to spend more time there, you will indeed be comfortable. All standard staterooms are attractively decorated in soft tones with fine light woods and two pieces of artwork on the walls. Each stateroom has two beds that convert to queen-size, a private bath, phone, interactive flat-screen TV, mini-bar, hair dryers and air conditioning/heat controls. Bathrooms are on the small side, but functional, and showers have those wonderful, half-round sliding doors as opposed to clingy curtains. Soap and shampoo are also provided.
Travel to and from Destination
You will be responsible for getting to and from the ship in Cape Liberty, NJ.
Dress
During the day, dress is casual. Evenings are either casual, smart casual or formal. On casual nights, suggested attire is sports shirts and slacks for men and sundresses or pants for women. On smart casual evenings, men should don jackets and tie, with women wearing dresses or pantsuits. On the one or two formal nights per cruise, men can choose from tuxedos or suits and ties, while woman usually wear cocktail dresses.
Gratuities
Gratuities are a part of your cruise expense and total $13.50 per day. This fee covers everyone who serves you while you are onboard including all onboard staff, dining staff, and your cabin steward. Because of our group status, Stitchin' Heaven Travel pays these gratuities for our entire group prior to sailing. Therefore, you will be charged for them at the time of final payment. A 15 percent gratuity is automatically added to bar tabs.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is not included, but is available for your protection from Royal Caribbean in the form of their Travel Protection Program. It is $109 per person and both cabinmates must purchase it separately. In the event insurance is used please be aware that it covers the cost of the cruise only. Sewing package fees are not refunded.
