Overview

Dear Friends,

The biggest and newest ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet is the Harmony of the Seas. We sailed on this ship last April and we were blown away with the up-to-date amenities, the food, and most of all the service of the onboard staff. Our Harmony of Quilting cruise will feature Creative Grids Rulers and all of the projects taught will include instruction on a ruler. You will not only learn how to make the project listed for the cruise, you will also go away with a plethora of ideas for future projects. Prepare to cruise the Caribbean, learn from world-class teachers, and leave with more education and inspiration than when you boarded. This one will fill up quickly so sign up right away!

Terry Atkinson www.atkinsondesigns.com

Terry Atkinson www.atkinsondesigns.com

Atkinson Designs is known for having simple, clean designs and easy to follow instructions. Terry designs the quilts and writes all of the pattern instructions, and her husband Kirk is the business manager.

Terry taught Home Ec for four years, adult quilting classes for 15 years, and even taught preschool! This teaching background is the reason her instructions are so easy to follow — they are written as if she is right there explaining it to you in class. Terry's attention span is pretty short, so you know the quilts will be quick and easy. Terry always has new projects in the works, and her favorite quilt is always the one she is just starting. When Terry is not in her sewing room, you'll find her camping and enjoying the outdoors.

Gudrun Erla www.gequiltdesigns.com

Gudrun Erla www.gequiltdesigns.com

Gudrun Erla, the designer and owner of GE Designs was born and raised in Iceland. She started quilting at the age of 23 and became totally addicted to it right away. After owning and running quilt shops in her home country and designing patterns along side it, a career move brought the family to Minnesota in 2003. Since then Gudrun has been designing full time, publishing patterns and books from her home office in Chanhassen, MN; where the family has been living since the move to the US.

Gudrun loves everything quick and simple, so her quilts might look more complicated than they really are. She loves to find ways to do things quicker and use easier methods. Her “quilt as you go” patterns have been very popular, with easy to follow instructions and quick assembly and finishing. All her patterns are geared toward today’s quilt makers, easy and fast with a modern touch. Gudrun has also been designing fabrics for Red Rooster Fabrics since 2006.

Karen Montgomery www.thequiltcompany.com

Karen Montgomery www.thequiltcompany.com

Owner of The Quilt Company, a full service quilt store, Karen also designs fabric for Timeless Treasures and currently publishes a book and pattern line under The Quilt Company name. Karen is a nationally recognized quilt teacher and designer and her shop showcases Karen's fabric designs for Timeless Treasures, her original patterns and the Quick Trim Ruler she designed for Creative Grids. Karen's projects can be found in catalogs and magazines around the world and is a nationally known speaker and teacher. She has been married to Cary for 30+ years. They have 3 children Lauren, Brandon and Lindsay and have recently become a new grandma of twins - Grant and Madeline.

Terry Atkinson Birthday Presents

Terry Atkinson Birthday Presents

This fun project has been in a book by Terry but she decided to release it as a pattern spring of ’17. It is easy, it is fun, and it is a project you will probably finish while you are onboard. A voyage of color discovery awaits you within these blocks. Do you see birthday presents or ribbons of interlocking color?  Vicki and Susan have taken great effort to match these batiks to those Terry used in this photo just so there will be no surprises. Birthday Presents uses the 8 ½” x 12 ½” ruler – one of Terry’s favorites. Just like at your birthday party, you will be all smiles!

The finished size of this project will be 52” x 65”

Gudrun Erla Amalie

Gudrun Erla Amalie

Gudrun’s project is a pattern that uses 10” squares and is cut using her new Stripology Squared ruler. For our cruise, Gudren will demonstrate the use of the ruler but your kit will be cut for you should you choose the optional Sail ‘n Sew fabric pack. You will finish this easy and delightful quilt in no time and will be ready to make another. Yes, we will have lots of 10” square packs onboard for you to choose if you want to start another one while onboard. Really. It is THAT easy!

The finished size of this project will be 48" x 56"

Karen Montgomery Whirlwind

Karen Montgomery Whirlwind

You can finish this lap sized quilt with a Whirlwind of perfection!  Perfect points, clipped corners and shapes that before this, you thought were only possible to make the hard way.  Karen works absolute magic with the Scrap Crazy 6” template set containing four unique shapes.  Let her show you how easy it is to stitch what look like complex blocks so that you can continue creating you own magic long after you get home.

The finished size of this project will be 59" x 71".

Optional Sail 'n Sew Fabric Pack

Our incredible Sail 'n Sew fabric pack includes all of the fabrics and patterns for your projects and they are pre-cut so all you need to do is sit down and sew! The price of the Sail ‘n Sew fabric pack is $350.00 and it includes all three of the projects for this cruise. If you would like to buy individual kits, please call for pricing. If you would like a Sail ‘n Sew pack, just let us know when you make your Reservation and we'll have a kit waiting for you on the ship. Order early as supplies are limited.

Want to cut your fabric yourself? We do have an option where we will send you all the fabrics and the patterns for all three of the projects. The price for this is $290.00 and we will mail it to you at least 60 days before the cruise. You can then cut your fabric and bring it and your patterns with you.

If you choose to bring your own fabric, please bring it precut and ready as we do not allow time for cutting during class. You will find the cutting instructions in each pattern that can be ordered here: Birthday Presents (Coming July 2017), Amalie, Whirlwind Cutting Instructions (Free Pattern Provided In Class).

A complete supply list will be sent to you 90 days prior to departure.
