Heidi Chase

Heidi Chase

Heidi started sewing when she was in 4H after watching her mom make all of her special holiday church outfits growing up.  Fond memories are never far as she uses her mom’s Featherweight as her primary sewing machine.  She has a decorator’s eye and enjoys modifying patterns to give them a personal touch. This love for quilting has continued to grow and develop by becoming a Studio 180 Design Certified instructor with Deb Tucker.

She then teamed up with two other Studio 180 Certified Instructors, Kathy Webb and Ellen Cicak, to form Running with Scissors Quilters.  This energetic trio enjoys sharing their passion in quilt classes, trunk shows, lectures and demonstrations. They are proud to have quilt patterns published as part of the Modern 180 line of Studio 180 and have several quilts in the Hunter Star books; Hidden Treasures and Royal Treasures.

You may also have seen them running the Studio 180 Design booth at some of the quilting shows including AQS in Lancaster, PA, Quilt Odyssey in Hershey, PA, and Vermont Quilt Festival in Essex Jct., VT.   They’ve had the pleasure of working with both Island Batik and Batik Textiles fabric lines designing quilts featured at Quilt Market Shows.

Heidi would love to share her joy of quilting and the precision of the Deb Tucker tools with you on her maiden quilting voyage.

Sarah Furrer

Sarah Furrer

Sarah Furrer lives in North Carolina and works for Studio 180 Design. Sarah started her quilting career in Chester VT at the quilt shop Country Treasures. Having grown up in Chester and with a mother as a quilter it was the logical place to get a part time job during High School when she was 16. Sarah made her first quilt during her Junior year of High school, she wanted a quilt for the French club to raffle off, her mother told her if she wanted a quilt then she could make it herself. The rest they say is history, a new quilter was born.

Sarah continued to work at Country Treasures all through high school and then College and finally started teaching there during her last year of college. After college while working for a Financial Advisor she continued to teach a few classes, then in 2013 she was certified as an instructor for Studio 180 Design. Teaching, Vending and lectures followed the certification. In 2015 Sarah was hired to work for Studio 180 Design. She travels with Deb to shows, where she demonstrates and explains the Tools of Studio 180 Design. She has three patterns published with Studio 180 Design in the Modern 180 line of patterns Filigree, Paper Lanterns, and Cross Fire. There isn’t a lot of time left in Sarah’s schedule to teach but when the occasion arises she enjoys it immensely.

Deb Tucker

Deb Tucker

Deb has been an avid quilt maker since 1981 and describes herself as a "Machine Piecing Efficiency Expert".  She has developed numerous streamlined construction techniques and tools to ensure high quality success with all levels of quilters.  Her patented tools - Rapid Fire Hunter's Star, Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star and fundamental line of rulers (Tucker Trimmer, Wing Clipper, Square/Squared, V-Block Trimmer, Corner Beam Trimmer, and others) are sold nationally and internationally.

As a designer, Deb has many patterns, books, online video tutorials and additional products to guide quilters with their machine piecing processes.  In 2008 not only did she launch her company, Studio 180 Design, she was also nominated for "Teacher of the Year" by Professional Quilter Magazine.  Her business now has 5 full time employees and 60+ Certified Instructors (trained individuals who are available to teach and lecture all across this country and abroad). When not traveling, Deb, her husband Jeff,  and their crew of "cat helpers" now live in beautiful, central North Carolina.
